Car hire is big business these days and one of the biggest players is Budget. Founded in Los Angeles in 1958 by Morris Mirkin, this family run business started with a fleet of just 10 cars. To keep overheads low they decided to operate off airport, this meant they were able to rent cars for as little as $4 a day and it was this that appealed to those on a budget and it was from this philosophy that the name of Budget came about and created the foundations of the company today.

Between 1939 and 1945 around *383,667 UK and crown military personal died during the second would war, protecting this country, its people and preserving the British way of life. Each year we commemorate the fallen souls of both world war I and II and remember some of the atrocities, we all have members in our family tree’s who have fought and died in the conflicts. Yet despite all this why is it that the British government is so intent on giving away our country and seeing our cultural disappear. Do politicians hate our country, it would seem so. Today’s politicians are nothing but greedy wasters trying to line their own pockets and get a good deal when they leave politics. They have no interest in our country or its British people and are happy to see our culture and way of life disappear forever. We don’t need to be part of Europe for anything other than trade and it is not in the best interest of the UK to join the Euro or any European constitutions or tax harmonisation.

With remembrance Sunday just around the corner all and sundry are selling poppies to raise money for the Royal British Legion. Last year some £30m was raised for the Royal British Legion’s charitable work. The poppy is used to commemorate those who died in the war and was started by American teacher Monina Bell Michael. Monina originally sold silk poppies to raise money for the ex-service community and it was in 1921 that the poppy was proclaimed as the national emblem of remembrance in the United States and United Kingdom.

Hasley Willard Taylor and Luther Haws were the first to patent the drinking faucet in 1911 after first inventing it in early 1906. Today’s market has a variety of different water coolers compared to the humble beginnings, when they used to use blocks of ice to chill the water. Bottled water coolers have been around since before the middle of the 20th century and depended upon gravity to supply water in a free standing unit.
The more modern water coolers not only supply chilled water but also contain a heated element to supply hot water and can be provided in a multitude of colors and designs.

The next stages of research into your family history can be one of the most frustrating because you will be looking for people who are no longer alive and some of the records both on-line and at society’s can send you on a wild goose chase. It can also start to get expensive as some on-line sites will only give you part information such as surname, an initial and if you are lucky a date, usually the year. So ways to save money are to order your certificates from the UK government site and not private on-line services, just use them to get the GRO numbers. Sites such as Ancestry offer a 14 day free trial, but there is nothing to say how many times you can sign-up for the free trial, just remember to cancel your subscription on the last day.

One of the most important decisions to make when you have a child is what name to choose. The history of baby names is so ancient that no one really knows where it began. In some cultures it is believed your name affects your personality and who you are. The earlier names had some sort of meaning and were descriptive, unlike today where people are more likely to name their child after their favourite television star or music group or even an object.

The hair transplant has come a long way since then 1950’s when doctors began experimenting with balding resistant hair follicles. Superstition and old wives tales such as if you can get a cow to lick your head, you will wake up with a head full of hair, have gradually disappeared and since been replaced by science.
It was in 1939 that a revolutionary method was published in the Japanese medical journal by a Doctor Okuda. His method was to use small grafts, unfortunately due to World War II; his method did not make much of an impact in the Western Hemisphere.

The history of carpets can be traced back as far as 1539 to the first Persian carpet and can today be found in almost every home. They can be made from either wool or a manmade fibre such as polypropylene and nylon.

Shagpile Carpet
Nylon carpets were the most popular synthetic carpets up until recent times. It has excellent wear characteristics but tends to stain easily. Nylon can also create a lot of static and as it’s a petroleum-based product the price can vary as the price of oil goes up and down. Nylon stands for New York and LONdon as it was created by scientists from the location.

The t-shirt has a long and varied history and can be a powerful tool in politics and advertising as well as a fashion statement and has been used to place important messages into the public eye.
It was with the rise of the international trade during the industrial revolution in England that the history of the t-shirt begins. Cotton was found to be the best material after much test and was chosen to prevent the harder and rougher outer clothing from itching. Unlike nowadays the t-shirt was only seen on washing lines or back sections of a clothing store.
